Bringing innovative behavioral healthcare to our community today while training the physicians of tomorrow.

Program Overview

The Psychiatry Residency Program at the UCR School of Medicine provides a four-year training program in general psychiatry.

Our program goals are to train high quality psychiatrists who:

  • Are caring, skilled clinicians.
  • Possess enhanced knowledge of community psychiatry and skills necessary for lifelong learning.
  • Abide by the highest ethical and professional standards.
  • Are committed to providing high quality professional services, alongside with family practice physicians and other healthcare providers, in underserved areas of Inland Southern California.


Training will take place at inpatient facilities and outpatient clinics and programs operated by the Riverside University Health System – Behavioral Health.

Research training will take place at the Division of Biomedical Sciences for the University of California Riverside School of Medicine.

The psychiatry residency program is supported in part by the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD).
