Psychiatry Residency Program Overview

The UCR School of Medicine's four-year graduate medical education program in psychiatry offers diverse and eclectic training opportunities in the full breadth of psychiatry, including psychotherapy and pharmacology.

Residents are encouraged to spend time in scholarly pursuits.

Our program features dedicated faculty mentors, opportunities to earn financial assistance through work opportunities, and financial support to present at national and international conferences.

Application Information

The program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) and accepts applications only through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). We require a copy of your MSPE (Dean's letter), three letters of recommendation (preferably at least one from an attending in psychiatry), medical school transcripts and copies of USMLE scores (or COMLEX.)

Program will begin reviewing ERAS applications on September 27, 2023. Virtual interviews will be held on selected Wednesdays between October 25, 2023 and January 31, 2024.

We will be having two virtual second look opportunities for interviewed applicants on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024 and Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2024, from 6-7 p.m. Please email Priscilla Verales or Roberta Cole for more information.
