During PGY-4, the UCR Psychiatry Residency Program provides residents with an opportunity to pursue elective rotations in mental health and neuroscience research.

Our goal is to promote the entry of psychiatry residents into ongoing careers in mental health research, including academic, clinical, translational and basic science research. For those incoming residents who already have significant research experience, we will customize this year to meet your research career plans. We accomplish this through proactive and collaborative mentorship and targeted research support. Our program includes career mentoring, protected time for research activities, and individualized training opportunities.

Highlights of the UCR Psychiatry Residency Program Elective during PGY-4:

  • Flexible, individualized research training and guidance.
  • Excellent faculty and rich training environment.
  • Collaboration with researchers at UCR.
  • Career mentorship opportunities.
  • Academically diverse faculty profiles.
