Biography

Dr. Akram Y. Razzouk, M.D., is a health sciences associate clinical professor of psychiatry with the University of California, Riverside School of Medicine and a psychiatrist with UCR Health.

Razzouk previously served as the teaching chief of psychiatry for the Hinsdale Family Practice Residency in Hinsdale, Illinois, where he supervised residents, coordinated inpatient rotations, and conducted lectures on psychopathology and psychopharmacology. He was also medical director for mental health services and chairman of the department of psychiatry at the Adventist Hinsdale Hospital, a 17-bed inpatient psychiatric unit.

He is the founder and medical director of the Salt Creek Therapy Center in Hinsdale and Naperville, Illinois.

Razzouk attended La Sierra University in Riverside to earn his B.A. in biology, then received his M.D. from the Loma Linda University School of Medicine. He then completed an internship and general psychiatry residency at the Loma Linda University Hospital.

He is a member of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, the American Psychiatric Association, and the American Association for Physician Leadership.

Research Interests

Razzouk's recent interests include managing depression and the link between food and mood.
