Message from Chair Karen L. Noblett, M.D.

Greetings from Karen L. Noblett, M.D.

Chair and Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology

Karen L. Noblett

Thank you for your interest in the OB-GYN ACGME program at the University of California, Riverside School of Medicine. As we look forward to matching our first class of four residents, we are looking for special individuals who have a pioneering spirit and are excited at the prospect of creating a legacy of excellence.

The mission of the UCR School of Medicine is to improve the health of the medically underserved in the region, by training a diverse workforce of physicians devoted to this patient population. In line with that, the mission of our department is to empower the women of Inland Southern California to engage in their health and wellness by providing innovative, compassionate, accessible, and comprehensive evidence based women’s healthcare.

When I was presented with the opportunity to become the founding OB-GYN chair at UC Riverside School of Medicine, the mission of the medical school really spoke to my heart. My vision is to create one of the most sought after residency programs in the country. Given the outstanding leadership and resources at UCR, I have no doubt we will make this vision a reality.

In the short time I have been at the UCR School of Medicine, we have been able to recruit nationally and internationally acclaimed faculty who are well known not only for their clinical skills, but also for their excellence in teaching. To that end, we have created an innovative curriculum that is not only focused on an outstanding clinical experience, but also on the learning environment which includes extensive simulation training as well as new rotations in integrative medicine and wellness.

One of the unique opportunities of being part of an inaugural residency class is that you have a great deal of one-on-one time with attending faculty. This will be an incredibly rich learning experience that is a once in a lifetime opportunity. This class will also set the culture and tone for the future residency classes. To that end, we will devote a great deal of effort on physician leadership development to ensure that our residents will go on to great success and have the opportunity to become the future leaders in the field of OB-GYN.

I look forward to welcoming you to our community.
