Meet Our Program Leaders

Daniel I. Kim, M.D., M.B.A., F.A.C.P.

Program Director, Internal Medicine
Chair of Medicine, Riverside University Health System – Medical Center

Dr. Daniel KimDr. Daniel Kim graduated from University of California, Riverside in with a bachelor's of science degree in psychobiology in 1989. He earned his MD degree from Drexel University (formerly Hahnemann University) in 1994. He completed his residency training in internal medicine at Loma Linda University in 1997 and served as chief medical resident at Loma Linda University Medical Center from 1997-1998. He received his healthcare M.B.A. from University of California, Irvine in 2005.

Kim has served as key clinical faculty, associate program director and formerly program director of the Loma Linda University's Internal Medicine Residency. He is chair of medicine at RUHS and the founding program director for the UCR Internal Medicine Residency. His research interests lie in medical education and quality improvement.

Christine Duong, M.D.

Associate Program Director

Dr. Christine Duong graduated from University of California, Riverside in 1993 with a bachelor of science degree. She earned her M.D. degree from Ross University School of Medicine in 2000 and completed internal medicine residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Overlook Hospital in 2003. In 2002-2003, Duong was chief resident in ambulatory internal medicine at Overlook Hospital.

Duong was an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Medicine at Loma Linda University School of Medicine from 2004-2008 and she is, as of 2011, the clinical preceptor in the Division of Biomedical Sciences at University of California, Riverside.

Roger Garrison, D.O., F.A.C.P.

Associate Program Director

Dr. Roger Garrison graduated from Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1999. He completed his internal medicine residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center in 2002 and served as chief resident at Riverside University Health System – Medical Center from 2002 to 2003.

Garrison presently serves as vice chair for the Department of Medicine and associate director of Graduate Medical Education at Riverside University Health System – Medical Center. Garrison has extensive experience in graduate medical education and enjoys teaching residents and students.

Ashis Mukherjee, M.D., F.A.C.C., F.S.C.A.I.

Associate Program Director

Dr. Ashis Mukherjee received his M.D. and conducted his residency at the Cornell University Medical College and conducted fellowships in cardiology and interventional cardiology at the George Washington University Hospital.

Mukherjee is one of the top invasive cardiologists in Inland Southern California and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Riverside Community Hospital and St. Bernardine Medical Center. He has served as the director of the Inland Empire Heart & Vascular Institute since 2007.
