About the Program Curriculum

The Internal Medicine Residency Program at the UC Riverside School of Medicine prepares students for the real world by placing an emphasis on education and both outpatient and inpatient experience in excellent and diverse training environments.

Our program offers more graduate medical education experience than comparable programs, with small, group oriented educational activities. Other features include:

  • Educational half days: for dedicated and protected didactics for all residents in the program.
  • Education is emphasized in ambulatory setting.
  • In-patient rotations are kept to a minimum, with very limited overnight call experiences.
  • More opportunity to build own patient base in continuity clinics.
  • Broad exposure to specialty and sub-specialty areas.
  • Procedure rotation experiences are built into the curriculum.
  • Community Care Project: will allow residents to engage in community health experiences.

Didactic Features

  • Internet Learning Center - Hopkins Ambulatory Education Module
  • AMA Internet Learning Modules
  • Weekly educational afternoon block sections with interactive, protected time programs coordinated between sites. This includes sim lab, OSCE, ultrasound teaching, board preparation testing, business, and leadership.
  • Reading program & board review
