Biography

Dr. Tae Kim is a board certified family medicine physician who joined the UCR School of Medicine in March 2013 and is now the chief medical officer of the UCR Health Medical Group.

Prior to joining UCR, Kim was senior staff physician in family medicine and a clinical assistant professor of family and community medicine at the Texas A&M School of Medicine - Scott & White Hospital. He also served as a preceptor for the Family Medicine Residency Program at the Santa Fe and Killeen clinics and for the OB-GYN and psychiatry residency programs at the hospital.

Kim earned his undergraduate degree in psychology with a minor in chemistry from the University of Texas, Austin, then attended the Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas before attending the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine to earn his M.S. and M.D. He returned to Texas to perform his residency at the Texas A&M School of Medicine - Scott & White Hospital, where he was the chief resident. He then stayed on as a senior staff member and assistant professor.

He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Association, and California Medical Association.

Research Interests

Kim has interests in women's health, preventative medicine, minor surgery, chronic medical management and academic medicine. He has lectured on a variety of topics, including the treatment of Diabetes Mellitus type II, Pseudomonas Pneumonia, and treatment options for congestive heart failure.

While in Texas he helped launch a study of the prevalence of Hepatitis B & C in the Asian community in central Texas.
