Biography

Dr. Gemma Kim joined the UCR School of Medicine faculty in March 2013, after spending 10 years practicing medicine in Texas.

While in Texas, she was senior staff physician for family medicine and clinical assistant professor at the Texas A&M College of Medicine and served as associate program director for the Scott & White Family Medicine Residency Program.

Kim is the founding program director of the family medicine residency program in Palm Springs. She is responsible for curriculum development and oversight of the residency program. She is also an instructor for clinical skills for the medical students at the UCR School of Medicine.

Kim attended the University of Texas, Austin as an undergraduate, then attended the Parker College of Chiropractic. She went on to earn her M.D./M.S. from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine before returning to Texas to conduct her residency at the Texas A&M School of Medicine - Scott & White Hospital. During her final year, Kim was chief resident of the family medicine program.

Research Interests

Kim's professional interests include academic medicine, health maintenance, women’s health, chronic disease management, and outpatient procedures. Kim is dedicated in developing and expanding primary care in the Coachella Valley. Her focus is to assess and serve the needs of the community by promoting prevention, health, and wellness.
