Message from Associate Program Director Takesha Cooper

Greetings from Takesha Cooper, M.D., M.S.

Associate Program Director and Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry

Dr. Takesha J. Cooper

I am thrilled that you are considering child and adolescent psychiatry as a career. Here at UCR, we have partnered with Riverside University Health System (RUHS) to provide a training experience that supports fellow well-being, superb didactic teaching by experts in the field, excellent patient care and tremendous growth.

Our relationship with RUHS allows UCR to provide a unique experience that merges university level research opportunities with a commitment to community mental health and service to our underserved patient population. The school of medicine’s values of integrity, inclusion, innovation, excellence, accountability and respect are a core component of the training you will receive, and after completing your training with UCR I am certain you will feel comfortable entering into any practice setting you choose.

As a native Southern Californian who grew up in Riverside county, there is no where else I would rather live. Our county is unique in that we have easily accessible to us a variety of amusement parks, beaches, skiing, hiking and more. When you are not spending time seeing patients and learning, there are plenty of opportunities to have fun and enjoy the great weather!

I invite you to come visit UCR where you can meet our faculty and tour our facilities. We hope you will consider joining us!
